Autoimmune and Medical Dermatology

Dr. Abuav provides comprehensive care for patients with autoimmune diseases. New patient consultations are $1,500 and follow up visits are typically $425-$850, depending on the complexity. Dr. Abuav will coordinate care with your primary care doctor, your rheumatologist or other specialists as a part of her treatment paradigm. As a Cedars-Sinai physician, Dr. Abuav can access and can view your Cedars-Sinai records and often records from other institutions through ‘Care Everywhere’ in CS-Link. Dr. Abuav continually searches the literature and attends lectures to stay up to date on all cutting edge research in autoimmune disease with skin involvement. If biopsies are taken, Dr. Abuav will review the histology with Cedar-Sinai’s Director of Dermatopathology during their twice weekly Clinicopathologic Correlation meetings. It is this piece that differentiates the detailed evaluation provided by Dr. Abuav in comparison to dermatologists at other practices and academic institutions.

Diseases Dr. Abuav treats with expertise:

-Connective tissue diseases (lupus, dermatomyositis, morphea, scleroderma, eosinophilic fasciitis, Sjogren’s disease, vasculitis)
-Neutrophilic dermatoses (pyoderma gangrenosum, Sweet’s syndrome)
-Autoimmune blistering disorders (bullous pemphigoid, mucous membrane pemphigoid, pemphigus vulgaris, epidermolysis bullosa acquisita, dermatitis herpetiformis)
-Autoimmune skin diseases (psoriasis with psoriatic arthritis, atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, lichen planus, oral and vulvar erosive lichen planus, granuloma annulare)
-Complex medical dermatology and “mystery rashes”
-Autoinflammatory disorders

NOTE: Dr. Abuav is delighted to be able to help you with your complex medical needs. In order to book an AUTOIMMUNE or EXTENDED consultation appointment, you will need to call the office directly. Online appointment requests will not be honored. A $250 DEPOSIT is required for all autoimmune consults. This fee will need to be paid at the time of booking via debit or credit card and is non-refundable. An appointment change/cancellation request must be received 3 business days before the appointment, or the deposit is forfeited. The deposit will be applied toward the $1,500 consultation fee due at the time of service. Furthermore, Dr. Abuav may need to charge an additional $100-200 for extensive record review fees and discussion with referring doctors. This additional charge, if applicable, will be discussed with you at the time of the appointment. Not every autoimmune appointment is charged this additional fee.
